Today is a bit of a different post but when I but the question out on Instagram you guys said that you would like to know my recipe for play dough. This is a really simple and easy way to make child friendly cheap playdough.
The colour isn’t exactly insta or blog friendly but being a full time teacher, I’m always trying to be purposeful. So on Monday I asked the children what colour they want me to make and they chose black with gold glitter. (our topic is the night sky so very fitting) They then chose what they wanted it to smell like and chose mint. You don’t have to add scents but they do give it that extra sensory point for the children.
It is very adaptable in terms of colour, scents and glitter and if kept in the fridge should last at least a week or two if not longer.
INGREDIENTS
- Plain Flour 2cups
- Salt 1cup
- Warm Water 2cups
- Vegetable Oil 1 tablespoon
- Cream of Tartar 1 tablespoon
- Food Colouring depends on the colour choice
- Peppermint Natural Extract optional
- Glitter optional
YOU WILL NEED
- Pan
- Wooden Spoon
- Cup Measurements
HOW TO MAKE IT
Its honestly so easy to make. Once you have measured out all the ingredients place the Flour, Salt, Water, Cream of Tartar and Oil in a Pan.
Put on a High heat and begin to stir. As it starts to stick together add your food colouring and scent. Depending on the colour you are wanting you may need to add more colours.
When its all stuck and cooled slightly, place onto your counter and begin to roll and kneed together. When it is cool enough you and then add the glitter and kneed until it has all stuck together.
And that is it! Its that simple it shouldn’t stick to your pan; and leaves very little cleaning to do. It has no harsh chemicals in it and the kids will love helping you make it!
